Method for operating a hearing device as well as a hearing device

A method for operating a hearing device in which one of several possible hearing programs is automatically selectable by the hearing device at a given time in order to adjust to a momentary acoustic surround situation, which is automatically recognizable by the hearing device, said adjustment being made in that parameters of a transfer function provided between a microphone and a receiver are changed, where the parameters to be changed according to the hearing program switching are adjusted from a momentary value to a new value in a smooth manner in response to a filter unit, the filter unit having a timed response to a bi-level switching state value, said timed response controlling said changes, wherein the hearing device includes, for manually selecting a hearing program, at least one of an oversteer unit at the hearing device and a remote control having effect on the hearing device, wherein the hearing program is changeable by manual intervention over the oversteer unit at the hearing device or by the remote control having effect on the hearing device, whereby the manually selected hearing program takes immediate full effect upon selection.
