Method and system for minimizing an amount of data needed to test data against subarea boundaries in spatially composited digital video

A method comprising:

• sending a bounding region outlining a three-dimensional space occupied by a geometry chunk to a plurality of graphics rendering devices;
• sending the geometry chunk to one of the plurality of graphics rendering devices based on an indication from the one of the plurality of graphics rendering devices that the bounding region is located at least partially within a sub-volume corresponding to the one of the plurality of graphics rendering devices;
• assembling render output, received from the one of the plurality of rendering devices, for the corresponding sub-volume together with one or more additional sub-volumes;
• and
• providing the assembled render output to a display.

A non-transitory computer-usable medium having instructions recorded thereon that, if executed by a computing device, cause the computing device to perform a method comprising:

• receiving, at a graphics rendering device, a bounding region outlining a three-dimensional space occupied by a geometry chunk;
• receiving the geometry chunk at the graphics rendering device if the bounding region is located at least partially within a sub-volume corresponding to the graphics rendering device;
• rendering, by the graphics rendering device, the geometry chunk;
• and
• outputting the rendering of the geometry chunk to a display.

A non-transitory computer-usable medium having instructions recorded thereon that, if executed by a computing device, cause the computing device to perform a method comprising:

• sending a bounding region outlining a three-dimensional space occupied by a geometry chunk to a plurality of graphics rendering devices;
• sending the geometry chunk to one of the plurality of graphics rendering devices based on an indication from the one of the plurality of graphics rendering devices that the bounding region is located at least partially within a sub-volume corresponding to the one of the plurality of graphics rendering devices;
• assembling render output, received from the one of the plurality of rendering devices, for the corresponding sub-volume together with one or more additional sub-volumes;
• and
• providing the assembled render output to a display.

A geometry distributor comprising:

• a bounding region calculator configured to send a bounding region outlining a three-dimensional space occupied by a geometry chunk to a plurality of graphics rendering devices;
• a PGU distributor configured to send the geometry chunk to one of the plurality of graphics rendering devices based on an indication from the one of the plurality of graphics rendering devices that the bounding region is located at least partially within a sub-volume corresponding to the one of the plurality of graphics rendering devices;
• and
• an assembler configured to assemble render output, received from the one of the plurality of graphics rendering devices, for the corresponding sub-volume together with one or more additional sub-volumes, and further configured to provide the assembled render output to a display.
