Abstract
A novel maize variety designated PHPGH and seed, plants and plant parts thereof. Methods for producing a maize plant that comprise crossing maize variety PHPGH with another maize plant. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into PHPGH through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. Hybrid maize seed, plant or plant part produced by crossing the variety PHPGH or a trait conversion of PHPGH with another maize variety. Inbred maize varieties derived from maize variety PHPGH, methods for producing other inbred maize varieties derived from maize variety PHPGH and the inbred maize varieties and their parts derived by the use of those methods.
Claims21
Maize variety PHPGH, representative seed of said variety having been deposited under ATCC accession number PTA-11571.
The maize variety of PHPGH, representative seed of said variety having been deposited under ATCC accession number PTA-11571, further comprising at least one locus conversion, wherein said locus conversion is selected from the group consisting of male sterility, site-specific recombination, abiotic stress tolerance, altered phosphorus, altered antioxidants, altered fatty acids, altered essential amino acids, altered carbohydrates, herbicide resistance, insect resistance and disease resistance.
A process of producing a conversion of maize variety PHPGH comprising at least one new trait, the process comprising:
- (a) crossing a plant of maize variety PHPGH, representative seed of which has been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-11571, with a plant of another maize variety that comprises at least one new trait to produce progeny seed;
- (b) harvesting and planting the progeny seed to produce at least one progeny plant of a subsequent generation, said progeny plant comprising the at least one new trait;
- (c) crossing the progeny plant with a plant of maize variety PHPGH to produce backcross progeny seed;
- (d) harvesting and planting the backcross progeny seed to produce at least one backcross progeny plant;
- and
- (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) for at least three additional generations to produce a converted plant of variety PHPGH, wherein the converted plant of variety PHPGH comprises the at least one new trait.
