Abstract
The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to charge transport layers useful in electrostatography. More particularly, the embodiments pertain to an improved electrostatographic imaging member having a charge transport layer that is partially crosslinked, wherein the crosslinking is achieved by incorporating a small amount of compatible thermalsetting resins into the layer. Incorporation of these resins have been shown to increase charge transport life.
Claims23
An imaging member comprising:
- a substrate;
- an undercoat layer disposed on the substrate;
- a charge generation layer disposed on the undercoat layer;
- a partially crosslinked charge transport layer disposed on the charge generation layer, the partially crosslinked charge transport layer further comprising a polymeric binder and a combination of an aminoplast resin and a polyol;
- and
- an overcoat layer disposed on the charge transport layer.
An imaging member comprising:
- a substrate;
- an undercoat layer disposed on the substrate;
- a charge generation layer disposed on the undercoat layer;
- a partially crosslinked charge transport layer disposed on the charge generation layer, the partially crosslinked charge transport layer further comprising a polycarbonate Z polymer and a combination of a melamine resin and a polyol;
- and
- an overcoat layer disposed on the charge transport layer.
An image forming apparatus for forming images on a recording medium comprising:
- a) an imaging member having a charge retentive-surface to receive an electrostatic latent image thereon, wherein the imaging member comprises a substrate, an undercoat layer disposed on the substrate, a charge generation layer disposed on the undercoat layer, a partially crosslinked charge transport layer disposed on the charge generation layer, the partially crosslinked charge transport layer further comprising a polymeric binder and a combination of a melamine resin and a polyol, and an overcoat layer disposed on the charge transport layer;
- b) a development member for applying a developer material to the charge-retentive surface to develop the electrostatic latent image to form a developed image on the charge-retentive surface;
- c) a transfer member for transferring the developed image from the charge-retentive surface to an intermediate transfer member or a copy substrate;
- and
- d) a fusing member for fusing the developed image to the copy substrate.
