Abstract
An intermediate transfer member for use in an image forming apparatus in which a toner image is formed on a photoreceptor, firstly transferred from the photoreceptor to the intermediate transfer member, and further secondly transferred from the intermediate transfer member to a recording medium, the intermediate transfer member, includes an intermediate transfer belt containing a volatile substance in a range of from 10 to 10,000 ppm as an average concentration of an entire intermediate transfer belt thereof.

An intermediate transfer member for use in an image forming apparatus in which a toner image is formed on a photoreceptor, firstly transferred from the photoreceptor to the intermediate transfer member, and further secondly transferred from the intermediate transfer member to a recording medium, the intermediate transfer member, comprising:
- an intermediate transfer belt containing a volatile substance in a range of from 10 to 10,000 ppm as an average concentration of an entire belt;
- wherein the intermediate transfer belt comprises a substrate layer and a surface layer formed on or over the substrate layer and the surface layer includes a resin containing a curable functional group;
- wherein when the concentration of the volatile substance in the surface layer is C1 (wt/wt ppm) and the concentration of the volatile substance in the substrate layer is C2 (wt/wt ppm), the surface layer satisfies the following formula:
- 10≦C1/C≦500;
- and
- wherein the surface layer is cured so that the intermediate transfer belt has a hardness of 200 to 350 N/mm2 as Universal hardness.
- an intermediate transfer belt containing a volatile substance in a range of from 10 to 10,000 ppm as an average concentration of an entire belt,
- wherein the volatile substance includes at least one of a ketone type solvent, an alcohol type solvent and an aromatic type solvent.
