Abstract
Exemplary systems and methods relating to washboxes are described.
Claims7
A system, comprising:
- a filter chamber configured to contain media for filtering contaminants from a fluid;
- and,
- an adjustable washbox that defines a media pathway and is configured to receive the media and to wash the contaminants from the media along the media pathway with a counter-current flow of water and wherein the adjustable washbox is further configured to automatically redefine an internal dimension of the media pathway.
A system, comprising:
- a media bed configured to filter contaminants from a fluid;
- and,
- an adjustable washbox configured to receive media from the media bed and to separate the contaminants from the received media and wherein the adjustable washbox includes an inner portion and an outer portion that define a tortuous media pathway therebetween and the adjustable washbox is automatically adjustable by moving either the inner portion or the outer portion relative to the other of the inner portion and the outer portion to redefine the tortuous media pathway responsive to a change in a rate at which the media is received by the adjustable washbox.
