Abstract
An energy transmission control mount comprises a carrier having a first major surface, an opposite second major surface and an aperture provided therein. Channels are provided adjacent opposite ends of the first surface. Vibration dampening material is provided on the carrier. The vibration dampening material substantially lines the channels and the aperture and extends over at least a portion of the second surface.

An energy transmission control mount for a building structure, comprising:
- a carrier having a first major surface, an opposite second major surface and an aperture provided therein;
- channels adjacent opposite ends of said first surface;
- and
- vibration dampening material on said carrier, said vibration dampening material comprising two separated dampening materials, one for lining said channels and the other for lining said aperture and wherein the dampening material that lines said aperture is isolated from the dampening material that lines said channels, the vibration dampening material extending over at least a portion of said second surface and over at least a portion of said first surface, the vibration dampening extending over said first surface being configured to retain a washer in alignment with said aperture and the vibration dampening material extending over said second surface being configured to define a series of spaced ribs.
A building structure comprising:
- a first building structure element;
- a second building structure element;
- an energy transmission control mount assembly to reduce transmission of energy between said first building structure element and said second building structure element, said energy transmission control mount assembly comprising:
- a channel-like member adapted to be secured to the first building structure element;
- a carrier receiving and retaining said channel-like member, said carrier being adapted to be structurally secured to said second building structure element and having an aperture provided therein;
- and
- vibration dampening material acting between said carrier and said second building structure element and substantially lining said aperture;
- and
- a fastener passing through said aperture to secure said carrier to the second building structure element, the vibration dampening material lining said aperture isolating the fastener from the carrier, wherein said second building structure element is one of a wall stud and masonry, said first building structure element is one of drywall, plaster board and gypsum board and said channel-like member is a furring channel.
An energy transmission control mount for a building structure to act between a pair of components, comprising:
- a carrier having a first major surface and an opposite second major surface and an aperture provided therein;
- vibration dampening material on said carrier that substantially lines said aperture, said vibration dampening material extending over at least a portion of said second surface and over at least a portion of said first surface, the vibration dampening material extending over said second surface being configured to define a series of spaced ribs that bear against one of said components and the vibration dampening material extending over said first surface being configured to retain a washer in alignment with said aperture;
- and
- retaining structure on said carrier configured to retain a second of said components adjacent said first surface.
A building structure comprising:
- a first building structure element;
- a second building structure element;
- an energy transmission control mount assembly to reduce transmission of energy between said first building structure element and said second building structure element, said energy transmission control mount assembly comprising:
- a channel-like member adapted to be secured to the first building structure element;
- a carrier receiving and retaining said channel-like member, said carrier having an aperture therein and being adapted to be structurally secured to said second building structure element;
- and
- vibration dampening material acting between said carrier and said second building structure element and substantially lining said aperture;
- and
- a fastener passing through said aperture to secure said carrier to the second building structure element, the vibration dampening material lining said aperture isolating the fastener from the carrier, wherein said second building structure element is a joist and said first building structure element is one of a floor and ceiling.
A building structure comprising:
- a first building structure element;
- a second building structure element;
- and
- an energy transmission control mount assembly to reduce transmission of energy between said first building structure element and said second building structure element, said energy transmission control mount assembly comprising:
- a channel-like member adapted to be secured to the first building structure element;
- a carrier receiving and retaining said channel-like member, said carrier being adapted to be structurally secured to said second building structure element;
- and
- vibration dampening material acting between said carrier and said second building structure element, said vibration dampening material being configured to define a series of spaced ribs, said ribs contacting said second building structure element, wherein said second building structure element is one of a wall stud and masonry, said first building structure element is one of drywall, plaster board and gypsum board and said channel-like member is a furring channel.
A building structure comprising:
- a first building structure element;
- a second building structure element;
- and
- an energy transmission control mount assembly to reduce transmission of energy between said first building structure element and said second building structure element, said energy transmission control mount assembly comprising:
- a channel-like member adapted to be secured to the first building structure element;
- a carrier receiving and retaining said channel-like member, said carrier being adapted to be structurally secured to said second building structure element;
- and
- vibration dampening material acting between said carrier and said second building structure element, said vibration dampening material being configured to define a series of spaced ribs, said ribs contacting said second building structure element, wherein said second building structure element is a joist and said first building structure element is one of a floor and ceiling.
