Abstract
The present invention concerns antibodies that neutralize at least one biological activity of pleiotrophin. The antibodies can inhibit cancer cell growth and angiogenesis in vitro or in vivo. The present invention provides for methods of inhibiting cancer cell growth or angiogenesis in a subject comprising administering to said subject an effective amount of the antibodies described herein. The present invention also provides for methods of making the neutralizing antibodies described herein.
Claims8
An isolated antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof that specifically binds to pleiotrophin (PTN) comprising any one of the following:
- (a) a monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof produced by hybridoma cell line 3B10 having ATCC deposit designation PTA-11180;
- (b) an antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof that binds to an epitope, which is the same as an epitope of the monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof produced by hybridoma cell line 3B10 having ATCC deposit designation PTA-11180;
- or
- (c) an antibody that competitively inhibits binding of a PTN polypeptide to an antibody comprising:
- (i) a light chain CDR1 sequence of SEQ ID NO:10, (ii) a light chain CDR2 sequence of SEQ ID NO:11, (iii) a light chain CDR3 sequence of SEQ ID NO:12, (iv) a heavy chain CDR1 sequence of SEQ ID NO:5, (v) a heavy chain CDR2 sequence of SEQ ID NO:6 and (vi) a heavy chain CDR3 sequence of SEQ ID NO:7.
