An N-heterocyclic compound of the structural formula
- wherein A is a pyridazinyl component;
- R3 is hydrogen;
- R6 is a phenyl moiety;
- R5 is a (CH2)2 alkyl moiety which forms a carbocyclic moiety with the phenyl moiety of R6;
- R4 is hydrogen;
- R2 is a (CH2)n alkyl moiety and n is 4-12;
- G is an acyl moiety;
- and B is a piperazinyl substituted with a pyrimidinyl moiety.

A method of reducing acute lung injury, comprising administering one or more compounds of the structural formula
- wherein A is a pyridazinyl component;
- R2 is a (CH2), alkyl moiety and n is 4-12;
- R3 is hydrogen;
- R4 is hydrogen;
