Abstract
The present invention relates to methods and compositions for predicting drug responses. In particular, the present invention provides methods and compositions for determining individualized Warfarin dosages based on genotype of DNA polymorphisms and haplotypes derived from them in the VKORC1 gene.
Claims16
A method of predicting a human subject's response to warfarin, said method comprising:
- providing a sample from a human subject;
- determining, in the subject's VKORC1 gene, the presence of a thymine or cytosine at the nucleotide corresponding to position 7566 of SEQ ID NO:1 in the sample from the subject;
- and
- predicting, based on the subject's genotype of T/T, T/C, or C/C at position 7566, the human subject's response to warfarin.
1 more element
A method of determining a suitable dose of warfarin for a human subject, said method comprising:
- providing a sample from a human subject;
- determining, in the subject's VKORC1 gene, the presence of a thymine or cytosine at the nucleotide corresponding to position 7566 of SEQ ID NO:1 in the sample from the subject;
- and
- identifying a suitable dose of warfarin for the subject based on the subject's genotype of T/T, T/C, or C/C at position 7566.
1 more element
A method comprising:
- providing a sample from a human subject receiving warfarin therapy;
- determining, in the subject's VKORC1 gene, the presence of a thymine or cytosine at the nucleotide corresponding to position 7566 of SEQ ID NO:1 in the sample from the subject;
- and
- establishing a correlation between the subject's genotype of T/T, T/C, or C/C at position 7566 with the subject's maintenance warfarin dose.
