Abstract
A clip-on infrared imager may be coupled and decoupled to an existing night vision system to add infrared imaging to provide a fused image through at least one of the night vision system eyepieces.
Claims17
A scene imager comprising:
- a housing having an output aperture adapted to be aligned with an input end of a night vision system having an image intensifier,
- objective optics at least partially disposed within the housing;
- a first sensor at least partially disposed within the housing for sensing scene information in a first range of wavelengths, the first sensor aligned with the objective optics;
- a processor for processing the scene information;
- a display for displaying the scene information;
- and
- projection optics at least partially disposed within the housing for generating a collimated output image, the projection optics aligned with the display and the output aperture, wherein the objective optics and the projection optics are adapted such that an angular offset of an input optical axis of the scene imager with respect to the image intensifier produces an equal and self-correcting offset in the collimated output image of the scene imager.
