Abstract
A method for directly growing carbon nanotubes, and in particular single-walled carbon nanotubes on a flat substrate, such as a silicon wafer, and subsequently transferring the nanotubes onto the surface of a polymer film, or separately harvesting the carbon nanotubes from the flat substrate.
Claims5
A carbon nanotube structure, comprising:
- a catalytic flat substrate having a catalytic surface;
- a first carbon nanotube layer comprising randomly-oriented carbon nanotubes;
- and
- a second carbon nanotube layer comprising vertically-oriented carbon nanotubes, and
- wherein the first nanotube layer is disposed as an outer crust upon the second nanotube layer such that the second nanotube layer is positioned between the first nanotube layer and the catalytic surface of the flat substrate.
