Abstract
A protocol provides generalized client-server computing by providing a server program that can utilize standard and non-standard ports for applications.
Claims16
A method of servicing a service request from a client, comprising:
- receiving the service request by a server from the client, the service request including an installing module of a server program stored at the client and a parameter indicating how long the server program can continue running after a last active connection associated with the server program between the client and server is closed;
- installing the server program on the server with the installing module in response to the service request;
- selecting a port for the server program;
- and
- commanding the server program to listen to the port.
