Abstract
A transgenic plant transformed by a phosphatase stress-related protein (PHSRP) coding nucleic acid, wherein expression of the nucleic acid sequence in the plant results in increased tolerance to environmental stress as compared to a wild type variety of the plant. Also provided are agricultural products, including seeds, produced by the transgenic plants. Also provided are isolated PHSRPs, and isolated nucleic acid coding PHSRPs, and vectors and host cells containing the latter.
Claims17
A transgenic plant cell transformed by a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising amino acids 1 to 1410 of SEQ ID NO:10.
An isolated polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising amino acids 1 to 1410 of SEQ ID NO:10.
A recombinant expression vector comprising an isolated polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising amino acids 1 to 1410 of SEQ ID NO:10.
A seed which is true breeding for a transgene comprising a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising amino acids 1 to 1410 of SEQ ID NO:10.
A method of producing a transgenic plant comprising the steps of:
- a) transforming a plant cell with an expression vector comprising a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising amino acids 1 to 1410 of SEQ ID NO:10;
- and
- b) generating from the plant cell a transgenic plant that expresses the polypeptide.
