Abstract
Isolated sulfotransferase nucleic acid molecules that include a nucleotide sequence variant and nucleotides flanking the sequence variant are described, as well as sulfotransferase allozymes. Methods for determining if a mammal is predisposed to cancer also are described.

An isolated nucleic acid molecule consisting of:
- (a) twenty to 100 contiguous nucleotides of SEQ ID NO:
- 6, wherein said sequence includes the nucleotide at position 201 of SEQ ID NO:
- 6, with the proviso that the nucleotide at position 201 is thymine;
- or (b) the complement of (a).
