Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for specifically detecting Ljungan virus (LV). In particular, the present invention relates to a method of detecting LV using quantitative real-time reverse transcriptase PCR. The present invention also provides kits for performing the method of the invention.

A method for detecting Ljungan virus (LV) comprising detecting a nucleic acid sequence comprising at least 13 contiguous nucleotides of the sequence:CTGCRYAGGTGGCTTTCACCTCTSGACAGYGC (SEQ ID NO. 1) or the reverse complement sequence, wherein the nucleic acid sequence is detected by using at least one probe that specifically hybridizes to at least 13 contiguous nucleotides of SEQ ID NO. 1 or the reverse complement sequence.
