Abstract
The present invention relates to biomedical devices, and particularly contact lenses comprising a polymer having entangled therein at least one acyclic polyamide.
Claims19
A silicone hydrogel formed from a reaction mixture comprising at least two components, (a) at least one silicone containing component and (b) at least one acyclic polyamide comprising repeating units of Formula I
- Wherein X is a direct bond,
- wherein R3 is a C1 to C3 alkylene group;
- R1 is selected from H, straight or branched, substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C4 alkyl groups,
- R2 is selected from H, straight or branched, substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C4 alkyl groups, amino groups having up to two carbons, amide groups having up to four carbon atoms and alkoxy groups having up to two carbons and wherein the number of carbon atoms in R1 and R2 taken together is 8 or less, wherein said acyclic polyamide is entrapped in said silicone hydrogel.
