Abstract
The present invention provides gene regulatory element polynucleotide molecules, including a promoter and a leader, identified from the ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase activase (RUA) Zea mays gene, useful for expressing transgenes in plants. The invention further discloses compositions, polynucleotide constructs, transformed host cells, transgenic plants and seeds comprising the Zea mays gene regulatory molecules, and methods for preparing and using the same.
Claims23
A polynucleotide molecule comprising a sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) nucleotides 1553 through 2280 of SEQ ID NO:
- 17666;
- (b) a nucleic acid fragment that comprises at least 95 contiguous nucleotides of nucleotides 1553 through 2280 of SEQ ID NO:17666 having promoter activity;
- and
- (c) a nucleic acid sequence comprising at least 95% identity to nucleotides 1553 through 2280 of SEQ ID NO:17666 having promoter activity,
- wherein said polynucleotide molecule is operably linked to a heterologous transcribable polynucleotide molecule.
