## Abstract

Carbonyl compounds generated and accumulated in the peritoneal dialysate can be inactivated or eliminated by a carbonyl compound-trapping agent such as aminoguanidine. Carbonyl compounds generated during sterilization and storage of the peritoneal dialysate can be eliminated by pre-contacting with the trapping agent. Further, it is possible to eliminate carbonyl compounds transferred from the blood to the peritoneal cavity of the patient during peritoneal dialysis treatment, by adding the trapping agent to the peritoneal dialysate or by circulating the fluid through a carbonyl compound-trapping cartridge. Intraperitoneal protein modification by carbonyl compounds is inhibited by the present invention, thereby sufficiently reducing peritoneal disorders associated with peritoneal dialysis treatment.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An agent for improving intraperitoneal carbonyl-stress state during peritoneal dialysis, comprising pyridoxines or salts thereof as an active ingredient wherein the pyridoxines or salts thereof are immobilized on an insoluble carrier.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The agent of claim 1, wherein the pyridoxines is pyridoxamine.

### Claim 3

A cartridge, comprising:
pyridoxines or salts thereof immobilized on the wall.

### Claim 4

A method for preparing a peritoneal dialysate, comprising:
passing a peritoneal dialysate through a cartridge, wherein the cartridge is filled with pyridoxines or salts thereof immobilized on an insoluble carrier; and
allowing carbonyl compounds in the peritoneal dialysate to be trapped by the pyridoxines or salts thereof thereby reducing carbonyl concentration in the peritoneal dialysate.

### Claim 5

A method for preparing a peritoneal dialysate having a reduced carbonyl compound content, the method comprising:
(a) contacting the peritoneal dialysate with pyridoxines or salts thereof which is immobilized on an insoluble carrier, and
(b) separating the peritoneal dialysate from the pyridoxines or salts thereof.

### Claim 6

A peritoneal dialysate present in a dual compartment container wherein a first compartment contains a reducing sugar and a second compartment contains pyridoxines or salts thereof.

### Claim 7 (depends on 3)

The cartridge of claim 3, wherein the pyridoxines is pyridoxamine.

### Claim 8 (depends on 4)

The method for preparing a peritoneal dialysate having a reduced carbonyl compound content of claim 4, wherein the pyridoxines is pyridoxamine.

### Claim 9 (depends on 5)

The method for preparing a peritoneal dialysate having a reduced carbonyl compound content of claim 5, wherein the pyridoxines is pyridoxamine.

### Claim 10 (depends on 6)

The peritoneal dialysate of a claim 6, wherein the pyridoxines is pyridoxamine.
