## Abstract

This disclosure provides compounds having drug and bio-affecting properties, their pharmaceutical compositions and method of use. In particular, the disclosure is concerned with alkene piperidine derivatives that possess unique antiviral activity. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to compounds useful for the treatment of HIV and AIDS.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A compound defined by the following formula, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof:

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A pharmaceutical composition which comprises an antiviral effective amount of the compound, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, as claimed in claim 1, and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable carriers, excipients or diluents.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The composition of claim 2 further comprising a second compound having anti-HIV activity.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The pharmaceutical composition of claim 2, useful for treating infection by HIV, which additionally comprises an antiviral effective amount of an AIDS treatment agent selected from the group consisting of:
(a) an AIDS antiviral agent;
(b) an anti-infective agent;
(c) an immunomodulator; and
(d) HIV entry inhibitors.
