## Abstract

A system for fishing using one of a plurality of rates of fall. Each of the rates of fall provides a different depth for delay between a cast and retrieval. The system includes a plurality of swim bait fishing lures. Each of the swim bait fishing lures includes an elongated body having a head and a rear along a longitudinal axis, a reduced tail portion flexible in a lateral direction and tapered laterally toward the rear, and an enlarged tail flaring from the reduced tail portion. The enlarged tail can have a tapered top and a tapered bottom, each formed from two intersecting faces. Each of the faces is characterized by a contour extending from the reduced tail portion on each of the faces to cause a vortex within a vicinity of each of the faces from a flowing fluid. Each of the swim bait fishing lure includes a weighted insert proximate the head. The system provides the plurality of rates of fall characterized by the respective weighted insert.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A system for fishing using one of a plurality of rates of fall, the plurality of rates of fall comprising a first rate of fall and a second rate of fall, each of the rates of fall providing a different depth for delay between a cast and retrieval, the system comprising:
a first swim bait fishing lure comprising:
an elongated body having a head and a rear along a longitudinal axis, a reduced tail portion from the body tapering laterally to the reduced tail portion toward the rear, the reduced tail portion being flexible in the lateral direction;
a first weighted insert comprising a first portion proximate the head of the elongated body and a second portion, the first portion configured to be less dense than the second portion, the weighted insert embedded within the elongated body;
a first rate of fall characterized by the first weighted insert, the first rate of fall being one of the plurality of rates of fall;
an enlarged tail flaring from the reduced tail portion, the enlarged tail having a tapered top and a tapered bottom, the tapered top being formed from two intersecting faces, the tapered bottom being formed from two intersecting faces, the rear forms a distal surface intersecting the tapered top and the tapered bottom;
a contour extending from the reduced tail portion on each of the faces terminating in an edge proximate the rear to cause a vortex within a vicinity of each of the faces from a flowing fluid and to provide an even drag, keeping the enlarged tail in a stable side to side movement creating a right and left vortex; and
a lateral indentation configured on the distal surface at the intersection from the tapered top and the tapered bottom; and
a second swim bait fishing lure comprising:
a second weighted insert;
a second rate of fall characterized by the second weighted insert, the second rate of fall being one of the plurality of rates of fall.

The system of claim 1 further comprising a third swim bait fishing lure the third swim bait fishing lure comprising:
a third weighted insert;
a third rate of fall characterized by the third weighted insert, the third rate of fall being one of the plurality of rates of fall.

The system of claim 2 further comprising a fourth swim bait fishing lure, comprising:
a fourth weighted insert;
a fourth rate of fall characterized by the third weighted insert, the fourth rate of fall being one of the plurality of rates of fall.

The system of claim 3 further comprising a fifth swim bait fishing lure comprising:
a fifth weighted insert;
a fifth rate of fall characterized by the fourth weighted insert, the fifth rate of fall being one of the plurality of rates of fall.
