Abstract
Reporting data related to content processing devices, e.g., television devices, are processed to identify channel tunes and corresponding tune times of the content processing devices. Automatically generated channel tunes based on the corresponding tune times are identified. Content items that are aired during a time period defined by the corresponding tune times can be adjusted.

A computer-implemented method, comprising:
- receiving reporting data related to television processing devices;
- identifying channel tunes and corresponding tune times of the television processing devices from the reporting data;
- identifying channel tune clusters at corresponding tune times;
- and
- determining that the channel tune clusters are automatically generated channel tunes if, for each channel tune cluster, the channel tunes for that channel tune cluster are generated at a particular tune time for that channel tune cluster.

A computer-implemented method, comprising:
- receiving reporting data related to a television processing device;
- identifying channel tunes and corresponding tune times of the television processing device from the reporting data;
- identifying channel tune clusters at triggering tune times;
- identifying tunes times corresponding to the triggering tune times;
- and
- for each channel tune cluster, determining that the channel tunes are automatically generated channel tunes if, for each channel tune cluster, the channel tunes for that channel tune cluster are generated at a particular tune time that corresponds to a triggering tune time for that channel tune cluster.

- an automated tuning detection engine implemented in a computer processing system configured to cause the computer processing system to perform operations comprising:
- receive reporting data related to television processing devices;
- identify channel tunes and corresponding tune times of the television processing devices from the reporting data;

- and
- determine that the channel tune clusters are automatically generated channel tunes if, for each channel tune cluster, the channel tunes for that channel tune cluster are generated at a particular tune time for that channel tune cluster;

- an accounting engine configured to adjust advertising costs associated with advertisements based on the identified automatically generated channel tune times.
