Abstract
Polyketal polymers, and methods of making and using such polyketal polymers are disclosed herein. The polyketal poylmers can be useful for applications including, for example, medical devices and pharmaceutical compositions. In a preferred embodiment, the polyketal polymers are biodegradable.
Claims31
A polymer comprising two or more repeat units selected from the group consisting of:
- a repeat unit of the formula (Formula III):
- a repeat unit of the formula (Formula IV):
- combinations thereof;
- wherein:
- each X independently represents NR5, CR5R6, SiR5R6, S, a sulfur-bonded group, a phosphorus-bonded group, or
- each Y independently represents O, NR5, CR5R6, SiR5R6, S, a sulfur-bonded group, a phosphorus-bonded group, or
- each n is independently from 0 to 5;
- each R1 independently represents an organic group;
- each R2, R3, R4, R5, and R6 independently represents H or an organic group;
- and
- R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, and/or R6 can optionally be joined to each other to form one or more rings.
