Abstract
Biologically active peptides that are derived from or are similar to sequences identical with the N-terminus of the oS1 fraction of milk casein. These peptides are capable of stimulating and enhancing immune response, protecting against viral infection, normalizing serum cholesterol levels, and stimulating hematopoiesis. The casein-derived peptides are non-toxic and can be used to treat and prevent immune pathologies, hypercholesterolemia, hematological disorders and viral-related diseases.
Claims56
A method for inducing or increasing hematopoiesis in a subject, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a casein peptide, wherein said casein peptide consists of an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOs:
- 2-21 and 23-25.
A method of treating a disease selected from the group consisting of glucosuria, hyperglycemia and diabetes, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a peptide consisting of the amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOs:
- 2-21 and 23-25.
A method for inducing or increasing hematopoiesis in a subject, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising a casein peptide, wherein the casein peptide in said composition consists of the amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOs:
- 2-21 and 23-25.
A method for inducing or increasing hematopoiesis in a subject, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a peptide consisting of the amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOs:
- 2-21, 23, 24, and 25.
A method of treating a disease selected from the group consisting of glucosuria, hyperglycemia and diabetes, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising a casein peptide, wherein the casein peptide in said composition consists of the amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOs:
- 2-21 and 23-25.
A method of treating a disease selected from the group consisting of glucosuria, hyperglycemia and diabetes, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a peptide consisting of the amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOs:
- 2-21, 23, 24 and 25.
