Abstract
The present invention relates to human PGF polypeptides and DNA (RNA) encoding such polypeptides. Also provided is a procedure for producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques, and antibodies and antagonist/inhibitors against such polypeptides. Also provided are methods of using such polypeptides therapeutically for treating prostate cancer, to promote tissue regeneration and to facilitate wound healing. Also provided is a diagnostic assay to detect prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Claims14
A diagnostic process comprising:
- analyzing for the presence or amount of a polypeptide in a sample derived from a host, wherein the polypeptide is detected with an antibody or fragment thereof that binds the polypeptide, wherein said polypeptide is selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID No. 2 and;
- (b) a polypeptide encoded by the cDNA of ATCC™ Deposit No. 75902;
- (c) a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence at positions 16-295 of SEQ ID No. 2;
- (d) a mature polypeptide encoded by the cDNA of ATCC™ Deposit No. 75902;
- and
- (e) a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence at positions 2-295 of SEQ ID No. 2.

A diagnostic method comprising:
- (a) contacting a sample derived from a host with an antibody or fragment thereof which binds to a polypeptide;
- wherein said polypeptide is selected from the group consisting of:
- i) a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID No. 2;
- ii) a polypeptide encoded by the cDNA of ATCC™ Deposit No. 75902;
- iii) a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence at positions 16-295 of SEQ ID No. 2;
- iv) a mature polypeptide encoded by the cDNA of ATCC™ Deposit No. 75902 and fragments, analogs, and derivatives thereof;
- and
- v) a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence at positions 2-295 of SEQ ID No. 2.
- (b) allowing a complex to form between said polypeptide and said antibody or fragment thereof;
- and
- (c) detecting said complex.
