Abstract
Disclosed are salts of Clopidogrel viz. Clopidegrel mesylate, Clopidegrel besylate and Clopidogrel tosylate, methods for their preparation and pharmaceutical compositions containing them and their use in medicine.
Claims9
Crystalline Clopidogrel besylate having a powder X-ray diffraction pattern substantially as depicted in FIG. 2.
A process for preparing crystalline Clopidogrel besylate having a powder X-ray diffraction pattern substantially as depicted in FIG. 2, comprising:
- i) dissolving/contacting Clopidogrel base in one or more solvents,
- ii) treating the product of step (i) with benzenesulfonic acid, and
- iii) removing the one or more solvents to obtain crystalline Clopidogrel besylate having a powder X-ray diffraction pattern substantially as depicted in FIG. 2.
A process for preparing crystalline Clopidogrel besylate having a powder X-ray diffraction pattern substantially as depicted in FIG. 2, comprising:
- i) dissolving/contacting amorphous Clopidogrel besylate in one or more solvents and
- ii) removing the one or more solvents to obtain crystalline Clopidogrel besylate having a powder X-ray diffraction pattern substantially as depicted in FIG. 2.
