Abstract
A dicarboxylic acid compound obtainable by oxidative degradation of pradimicin antibiotics, which are antibiotics consisting of the benzonaphthacene skeleton, a D-amino acid side chain and a sugar chain, for the second saccharide residue of the sugar chain, and use thereof utilizing a specific microorganism binding property thereof are provided. The dicarboxylic acid compound has significantly improved water-solubility compared with the raw material antibiotics, whist maintaining the specific microorganism binding property.
Claims8
A compound represented by the general formula (A) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:
- wherein:
- R1 represents hydrogen atom, methyl, or hydroxymethyl,
- R2 represents hydroxy, amino, or mono- or di-C1-C6 alkyl-substituted amino,
- R3 represents hydroxy, amino, monomethylamino, or dimethylamino,
- L1 represents a group represented by the formula (B):
- wherein Ra and Rb represent carboxyl, Rc represents hydrogen atom or hydroxymethyl, or
- when R3 is amino or monomethylamino, R3 and Rb in L1 combine together to represent a bridging group:
- wherein Ra and Rc have the same meanings as defined above, and Rd represents hydrogen atom or methyl, and
- L2 represents hydrogen atom, methyl or a group represented by the formula (C):
