• R1 is H, hydroxyl, C1-10 alkyloxy, C2-10 alkenyloxy, which is unsubstituted or substituted with C1-6 alkyl, or C2-10 alkynyloxy;
• R2 is H, hydroxyl, C1-10 alkyl, C2-10 alkenyl or C2-10 alkynyl;
• R3 is C1-10 alkyl, C2-10 alkenyl or C2-10 alkynyl;
• denotes a single or double bond;
• provided that
• if X is O, R3 is absent;
• if denotes a single bond, the compound has the formula:
• or a tautomer, stereoisomer, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

A method of treating fibrosis in a mammal, wherein the fibrosis is mediated by TGF-β, the method comprising administering to the mammal a compound having the formula

• X is N or O;
• R1 is H, hydroxyl, C1-10 alkyloxy, C2-10 alkenyloxy, which is unsubstituted or substituted with C1-6 , or C2-10 alkynyloxy;
• R2 is H, hydroxyl, C1-10 alkyl, C2-10 alkenyl or C2-10 alkynyl;
• R3 is absent, H, hydroxyl or C1-10 alkyl, C2-10 alkenyl or C2-10 alkynyl;
• denotes a single or double bond;
• provided that
• if X is O, R3 is absent;
• if denotes a single bond, the compound has the formula:
• or a tautomer, stereoisomer, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
