The present invention relates to compositions and methods for the reduction of atherosclerotic plaques and the decrease in the level of total serum cholesterol, triglycerides, serum LDL cholesterol, and serum HDL cholesterol.

A method of treating a disorder characterized by undesirable cell proliferation in a subject by administering a composition to the subject in an amount effective to inhibit the undesirable cell proliferation, wherein the composition comprises an agent that can remove sialic acid residues and one or more plant extract comprising nucleic acid-containing particles selected from the group consisting of archaea, nanoarchaea, and a mixture thereof.
