Method for vaporizing a liquid reactant in manufacturing a glass preform

A method for vaporizing liquid reactants in a process for producing a glass soot preform, comprising:

• providing a vaporizing plate comprising a horizontal flow channel;
• forming in said horizontal flow channel a continuous stream of liquid reactant, wherein said continuous stream of liquid reactant has a thickness sufficient for generating vapor and bubbles under film or nucleate boiling regime;
• heating said vaporizing plate to a temperature sufficient to generate vapor and bubbles under film or nucleate boiling regime from said continuous stream of liquid reactant in said horizontal flow channel;
• and
• generating vapor and bubbles under film or nucleate boiling regime from said continuous stream of liquid reactant in said horizontal flow channel via said heating.
