Abstract
A game of chance is provided in which a wagering game of skill and chance is played electronically automatically according to a predetermined set of rules. Such games of chance may include card games, such as poker and blackjack, or other games, such as dominoes, craps or backgammon. Such games may be reduced to games of chance, removing the element of player skill, and allowing such games to be played outside legal gaming jurisdictions.
Claims172
A game machine configured to provide a game including a chance element and a skill element, the game machine comprising:
- a predetermined set of rules stored in a computer memory;
- and
- a computer system including a processor, the processor configured to:
- present game play to at least one of a plurality of players;
- prevent the at least one of the plurality of players from influencing the at least one of the plurality of players' chance of winning the game based on at least one skill decision during the game play of the game including elements of skill;
- execute the skill element, wherein the skill element is configured to require at least one skill decision during game play of the game;
- apply the predetermined set of rules to play the at least one skill decision automatically by the processor instead of the at least one of the plurality of players, in response to reaching the at least one skill decision;
- and
- execute, in response to the play of the at least one skill decision, the chance element, wherein the chance element is configured to generate an outcome based on the odds of winning the game, wherein the odds of winning are fixed by the predetermined set of rules, and wherein the chance element is further configured to automatically determine at least one winner from the plurality of players.
A computer implemented method for conducting a game of chance including at least one game of skill and chance, the method comprising acts of:
- providing entry of a plurality of players in the game of chance;
- providing a predetermined set of rules by which the plurality of players play the game of chance;
- automatically making, using a computer system, at least one game play decision of skill instead of at least one of the plurality of players according to the predetermined set of rules, in response to reaching the at least one game play decision of skill;
- preventing the at least one of the plurality of players from affecting an outcome of the at least one game play decision of skill;
- and
- generating an outcome of the game of chance based on odds of winning the game, wherein the odds of winning are fixed by the predetermined set of rules, and wherein the act of generating an outcome includes an act of automatically determining at least one winner from the plurality of players.
A computer-readable medium having computer-readable instructions stored thereon that define instructions that, as a result of being executed by a computer, instruct the computer to perform a method for conducting a game of chance including at least one game of skill and chance, the method comprising acts of:
- providing entry of a plurality of players in the game;
- providing for game play representative of the game of skill and chance;
- providing a predetermined set of rules controlling the game play, wherein the predetermined set of rules define at least one game play action to execute in response to at least one game play decision of skill;
- reaching the at least one game play decision of skill according to the game play representative of the game of skill and chance;
- automatically making the at least one game play decision of skill instead of at least one of the plurality of players according to the predetermined set of rules, in response to reaching the at least one game play decision of skill;
- preventing the at least one player from influencing an outcome resulting from the at least one game play decision of skill;
- and
- generating an outcome of the game of chance, based on odds of winning the game, wherein the odds of winning are fixed by the predetermined set of rules, and wherein the act of generating an outcome includes an act of automatically determining at least one winner from the plurality of players.
A system for playing a game of chance including at least one game of skill and chance, the system comprising:
- means for providing entry of a plurality of players in the game of chance;
- means for providing a predetermined set of rules by which the plurality of players play the game of chance;
- means for automatically making at least one game play decision of skill instead of at least one of the plurality of players according to the predetermined set of rules, in response to reaching the at least one game play decision of skill;
- means for preventing the at least one player from influencing play of the game of chance resulting from the at least one play decision of skill;
- and
- means for generating an outcome of the game of chance based on odds of winning the game, wherein the odds of winning are fixed by the predetermined set of rules, and wherein the means for generating an outcome includes a means for automatically determining at least one winner from the plurality of players.
A method for conducting a game, wherein the game includes a chance component and a skill component, the method comprising acts of:
- providing entry of a plurality of players in the game;
- executing game play including the skill component;
- providing a predetermined set of rules controlling the game play, wherein the predetermined set of rules define at least one game play action executed in response to at least one game play decision of skill;
- reaching the at least one game play decision of skill according to the game play;
- playing the at least one game play decision of skill automatically by a computer instead of at least one of the plurality of players, in response to the act of reaching the at least one game play decision of skill;
- preventing the at least one player from influencing the game play resulting from the at least one game play decision of skill reached;
- and
- generating an outcome of the game, based on odds of winning the game, wherein the odds of winning are fixed by the predetermined set of rules, and wherein the act of generating an outcome includes an act of automatically determining at least one winner from the plurality of players.
