- (a1) applying a lubricant solution to an amount of wood chips prior to delivery into a refining area;
- and (b) delivering the wood chips to a refiner, wherein the wood chips of step (a1) have a lubricant dosage of from about 0.1 to about 6 pounds of lubricant per ton of wood chips after application of the lubricant solution.
