• at least one shear connector having a core and a plurality of mandrels projecting from the core in a direction transverse to a longitudinal extent of the shear connector, located in the hollow cavity, the shear connector having an outside end thereof set back with respect to an adjacent end face of the beam by a length corresponding to a forward wood length, a1,t, defined by an equation

• γM steel is a reduction coefficient during bending of steel,
• fv,k is stress at break at the flanks of a shear block that is defined by a profile of the shear connector,
• t1 is an operational length of a mandrel,
• a1 is a distance between adjacent mandrels in a longitudinal direction of the shear connector,
• a2 is a distance between adjacent mandrels in a direction transverse to the longitudinal extent of the shear connector, and
• n is a number of mandrels arranged one after another in a direction of wood fibers.
