Abstract
Disclosed is a colorant compound of the formula wherein Y is a hydrogen atom or a bromine atom, n is an integer of 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, R1 is an alkylene group, an arylene group, an arylalkylene group, or an alkylarylene group, provided that no oxygen atom creates a linkage, X is —O— or —NR3— wherein R3 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an arylalkyl group, or an alkylaryl group, and R2 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an arylalkyl group, or an alkylaryl group.

A colorant compound of the formula
- wherein Y is a hydrogen atom or a bromine atom,
- n is an integer of 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4;
- R1 is an alkylene group, an arylene group, an arylalkylene group, or an alkylarylene group, provided that no oxygen atom creates a
- linkage;
- X is —O— or —NR3—;
- wherein R3 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an arylalkyl group, or an alkylaryl group;
- provided that when X is —NR3—, R2 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an arylalkyl group, or an alkylaryl group and
- at least one of R2 and R3 is other than hydrogen and the total number of carbon atoms in R2+R3 at least 18;
- provided that when X is O, R2 is an alkyl group, an aryl group, an arylalkyl group, or an alkylaryl group having at least 18 carbon atoms;
- and
- provided that when X is —NR3—, either (1) n is 2, (2) R1 is a substituted alkylene group, (3) R1 is an alkylene group wherein no hetero atoms are present in the alkylene group, (4) R1 is an arylene group, (5) R1 is an arylalkylene group or an alkylarylene group, (6) R3 is a hydrogen atom, (7) R2 is a hydrogen atom, (8) R2 is an aryl group, or (9) R2 is an arylalkyl group or an alkylaryl group.
