Abstract
Monomeric metal complexes having improved luminescence properties are provided. In one embodiment, a monomeric metal complex is represented by the formula [PN]M(L)2. PN is an amidophosphine ligand, and M may be any metal capable of exhibiting luminescent properties, for example, a d10 metal. L may be a tertiary phosphine. Alternatively, a second PN ligand or DPPE may take the place of both L ligands.
Claims20
A monomeric metal complex comprising a compound represented by Formula 1:
- wherein:
- M is a d10 metal;
- each of R1 and R2 is a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon substituent;
- each of R3 through R11 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogens, hydroxyl groups, cyano groups and substituted and unsubstituted hydrocarbon substituents, wherein R6 and R7 may optionally combine to form a single bond;
- and
- each of L1 and L2 is selected from the group consisting of substituents represented by PX3, wherein X is a hydrocarbon substituent, wherein L1 and L2 may optionally combine to form a single ligand.

A monomeric metal complex comprising a compound represented by Formula 1:
- wherein:
- M is selected from the group consisting of Cu, Ag and Zn;
- each of R1 and R2 is selected from the group consisting of substituted and unsubstituted alkyl groups, substituted and unsubstituted alkenyl groups, substituted and unsubstituted alkynyl groups, substituted and unsubstituted aryl groups, and substituted and unsubstituted heteroaryl groups;
- each of R3 through R11 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogens, hydroxyl groups, cyano groups, alkoxy groups, acyl groups, substituted and unsubstituted alkyl groups, substituted and unsubstituted alkenyl groups, substituted and unsubstituted alkynyl groups, substituted and unsubstituted aryl groups, and substituted and unsubstituted heteroaryl groups;
- and wherein R6 and R7 may optionally combine to form a single bond;
- and
- each of L1 and L2 is selected from the group consisting of substituents represented by PX3, wherein X is selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups, alkenyl groups, alkynyl groups, aryl groups and heteroaryl groups wherein L1 and L2 may optionally combine to form a single ligand.
