Abstract
Modified exendins and exendin agonists having an exendin or exendin agonist linked to one or more polyethylene glycol polymers, for example, and related formulations and dosages and methods of administration thereof are provided. These modified exendins and exendin agonists, compositions and methods are useful in treating diabetes and conditions that would be benefited by lowering plasma glucose or delaying and/or slowing gastric emptying or inhibiting food intake.
Claims15
A method for treating diabetes, postprandial hyperglycemia, or impaired glucose tolerance comprising administering to a human in need of treatment for diabetes, postprandial hyperglycemia, or impaired glucose tolerance a therapeutically effective amount of exendin-4 or agonist exendin-4 peptide analog linked to albumin through the C-terminal or N-terminal amino acid of the exendin-4 or agonist exendin-4 peptide analog.
A method for treating diabetes, postprandial hyperglycemia, or impaired glucose tolerance comprising administering to a human in need of treatment for diabetes, postprandial hyperglycemia, or impaired glucose tolerance a therapeutically effective amount of an agonist exendin-4 peptide analog linked to albumin, wherein the agonist exendin-4 peptide analog comprises the following amino acid sequence:
- (SEQ ID NO:
- 3)
- His-Gly-Glu-Gly-Thr-Phe-Thr-Ser-Asp-Leu-Ser-Lys-
- Gln-Met-Glu-Glu-Glu-Ala-Val-Arg-Leu-Phe-Ile-Glu-
- Trp-Leu-Lys-Asn-Gly-Gly.
