Abstract
A method, system, and medium are provided for facilitating a communications call. The method comprises receiving a request to connect to a destination described by a first target which includes a user-identification parameter and a domain parameter. Second, using the target, generating a second target associated with the first target. Finally, permitting the request to be fulfilled if the request is associated with the second target.

- receiving a request at an intermediary validation component in a network to connect to a destination described by a first target string, said first target string including a user-identification parameter and a domain parameter;
- using said first target string, generating a second target string at said intermediary validation component, which is associated with said first target string;

- using said destination address, generating a string without user interaction that is associated with said destination address;
- and
- permitting said request to be fulfilled only if said request is verified to be associated with said string by said intermediary validation component.
Computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that, when executed, perform a method of communicating data using a text-based protocol, the method comprising:
- receiving a request at an intermediary validation component in a network to communicate data to an original destination address, said destination address including a user-identification parameter and a domain parameter;
- deriving from said destination address a modified address that is associated with said original destination address;
- and
- permitting said request to be fulfilled only if said modified request is verified to be associated with said original destination request by said intermediary validation component.
Computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that, when executed, perform a method of validating messages using a text-based protocol that establishes, modifies or terminates multimedia sessions in a telecommunications system having end-point devices compliant with said text-based protocol communicating with end-point devices compliant with said text-based protocol, comprising:
- receiving at one or more end-point devices one or more text-based initiation messages from at least one initiating party, wherein the structure of each initiation message includes at least a text-based target identifier and a call identifier;
- based on the call identifier, indicating whether each initiation message is an initial message or reissued message;
- and
- if the message is an initial message, then
- (1) appending a portion of the initial message target identifier;
- and
- (2) returning to the initiating party a response message having the appended portion of the initial message target identifier;
- but
- if the initiation message is a reissued message, then
- (1) determining whether the reissued message includes the appended portion of the corresponding initial message target identifier;
- and
- (2) based on the determination, forwarding the reissued message to a proper endpoint.
Computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that, when executed, perform a method of validating messages using a text-based protocol that establishes, modifies or terminates multimedia sessions in a telecommunications system having end-point devices communicating with other end-point devices compliant with said text-based protocol, comprising:
- receiving at one or more end-point devices one or more text-based session initiation messages from at least one initiating party, wherein the structure of each session initiation message includes at least a text-based target identifier and a call identifier;
- based on the call identifier, indicating whether each session initiation message is an initial message or a reissued message;
- and
- if the message is an initial message, then
- (1) generating a new text-based target identifier associated with the initial message text-based target identifier;
- and
- (2) returning to the initiating party a response message having the new text-based target identifier;
- but
- if the session initiation message is a reissued message having the new target identifier associated with the initial message text-based target identifier, then forwarding the reissued message to a receiving party.
Computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that, when executed, perform a method of validating messages using a text-based protocol that establishes, modifies or terminates multimedia sessions in a telecommunications system having text-based compliant end-point devices communicating with other text-based compliant end-point devices, comprising:
- receiving at one or more end-point devices one or more text-based session initiation messages from at least one initiating party, wherein the structure of each session initiation message includes at least a text-based compliant target identifier and a call identifier;
- based on the call identifier, determining whether each session initiation message is an initial message or a reissued message;
- if the message is an initial message, then
- (1) modifying the content of the initial message text-based target identifier to generate a modified text-based target identifier;
- and
- (2) returning to the initiating party a response message having the modified text-based target identifier;
- and
- forwarding each reissued message to a recipient associated with the modified text-based target identifier.
Computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that, when executed, cause an intermediary validation component in a communications system to perform a method of validating text-based protocol compliant multimedia sessions in said communications system, comprising:
- receiving at said intermediary validation component one or more first messages from at least one initiating party, wherein the one or more first messages include a text-based target string and a call string;
- based on the call string, identifying second messages from the one or more first messages;
- for each message that is a second message,
- (1) associating at least one aspect of the text-based target string with a unique identification string located in a data structure accessed by said intermediary validation component,
- (2) creating a unique text-based target string from the unique identification string,
- (3) from said intermediary validation component, returning to the initiating party a third message having the unique text-based target string;
- and
- forwarding, from said intermediary validation component via said communications system, the third messages having the unique text-based target string to a recipient identified in the second message based on the association of the unique text-based target string to the unique identification string in the data structure.
Computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that, when executed, perform a method of validating text-based protocol compliant multimedia sessions in a communications-networking environment, comprising:
- receiving one or more first messages at an intermediary validation component, wherein the one or more first messages include a text-based target string and a call string;
- based on the call string, identifying one or more second messages from the one or more first messages;
- for each second message that is an initial message;
- (1) modifying one or more characteristics of the text-based target string to form a unique associated text-based target string, wherein modifying said one or more characteristics include using said one or more characteristics to create one or more derived characteristics;
- (2) from said intermediary validation component, returning a third message having the associated text-based target string;
- and
- from said intermediary validation component, transmitting each first message having the associated text-based target string.
Computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that, when executed, perform a message validation method used in a network, comprising:
- receiving at an intermediary validation device sending one or more messages using a text-based protocol, wherein the one or more messages using said text-based protocol include a target string and a call string;
