Claims14
A compound represented by the formula:
- wherein
- R1, R2, R4 and R5 are each independently C1-C4 alkyl or C1-C4 haloalkyl;
- R3 and R6 are each independently H, C1-C4 alkyl or C1-C4 haloalkyl;
- and
- one of X1 and X2 is OH and the other is H, and Y is fluoroalkyl;
- or
- X1 and X2 taken together are ═O, and Y is C1-C4 fluoroalkyl;
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or prodrug thereof.

A method of preparing a compound represented by the formula (Formula I):
- in which
- R1, R2, R4 and R5 are each independently C1-C4 alkyl or C1-C4 haloalkyl;
- R3 and R6 are each independently H, C1-C4 alkyl or C1-C4 haloalkyl;
- and
- one of X1 and X2 is OH and the other is H, and Y is fluoroalkyl;
- or X1 and X2 taken together are ═O, and Y is C1-C4 fluoroalkyl;
- the method comprising the step of reacting a phenolic compound of the formula (Formula II):
- in which R1-R6 are as described above, with a C2-C6-hydroxyhaloalkylating agent under conditions such that the compound of Formula I is prepared.
