Abstract
A blade for a cutting tool. The cutting tool can be supportable on a spindle of a power tool. The blade can include a blade body removably supportable on the cutting tool and being moveable with the cutting tool relative to the power tool for cutting a workpiece. The blade can further include a first cutting edge extending outwardly from the blade body and a second cutting edge extending outwardly from the blade body. When the blade is supported in the cutting tool, the first cutting edge can extend radially across an end of the cutting tool and the second cutting edge can be positioned adjacent an outer circumference of the cutting tool.
Claims26
A blade for a cutting tool, the cutting tool being supportable on a spindle of a power tool, the blade comprising:
- a blade body removably supportable on the cutting tool and being moveable with the cutting tool relative to the power tool for cutting a workpiece;
- a first cutting edge extending outwardly from the blade body;
- a second cutting edge extending outwardly from the blade body, wherein, when the blade is supported in the cutting tool, the first cutting edge extends radially across an end of the cutting tool and the second cutting edge is positioned adjacent an outer circumference of the cutting tool;
- and
- a third edge extending between the first cutting edge and the second cutting edge, the third edge defining an opening, wherein a portion of the first cutting edge extends over the opening.
A blade for a cutting tool, the cutting tool being supportable on a spindle of a power tool, the blade comprising:
- a blade body removably supportable in the cutting tool and being moveable with the cutting tool relative to the power tool for cutting a workpiece;
- a first cutting edge extending outwardly from a cutting end of the blade body and being oriented at a first angle with respect to the cutting end;
- and
- a second cutting edge extending axially outwardly from the cutting end of the blade body at least about 0.02 inches beyond the first cutting edge and being oriented at a second angle with respect to the cutting end, wherein the first angle is greater than the second angle.
A blade for a cutting tool, the cutting tool being supportable on a spindle of a power tool, the blade comprising:
- a blade body removably supportable in the cutting tool and being moveable with the cutting tool relative to the power tool for cutting a workpiece;
- a first cutting edge extending outwardly from a first end of the blade body;
- a second cutting edge extending outwardly from the first end of the blade body;
- and
- a locking edge extending along the first end of the blade body between the first cutting edge and the second cutting edge, the locking edge defining an opening that is engageable with a locking arrangement of the cutting tool to secure the blade to the cutting tool.
A method of operating a cutting tool, the method comprising the acts of:
- securing the cutting tool to a spindle of a power tool;
- positioning a blade within the cutting tool such that a first cutting edge and a second cutting edge of the blade extend outwardly from an end of the cutting tool, the first and second cutting edges extending from a first end of the blade, the blade including a locking edge that extends along the first end between the first and second cutting edges and defines an opening;
- engaging the opening on the locking edge of the blade with a locking member to secure the blade to the cutting tool;
- cutting a workpiece with the cutting tool;
- and
- removing the blade from the cutting tool.
