Abstract
A firearm trigger assembly for use with a firearm includes a trigger mounted to a forestock of the firearm so that the trigger is movable between a rest position and a triggering position by a forwardly placed support hand of a user. An elongated trigger member operatively associated with the trigger operates a sear assembly of the firearm when the trigger is moved to the triggering position. An action release assembly operatively associated with the firearm trigger assembly and a movable assembly of the firearm prevents the trigger from being moved to the triggering position when the movable assembly is not in the locked position.
Claims13
A firearm trigger assembly for use with a firearm having a forestock, a sear assembly, and a movable assembly, the movable assembly being movable between a locked position and an unlocked position, the firearm trigger assembly comprising:
- a trigger mounted to the forestock of the firearm, the trigger being movable between a rest position and a triggering position by a forwardly placed support hand of a user;
- an elongated trigger member operatively associated with the trigger and the sear assembly of the firearm, the elongated trigger member operating the sear assembly of the firearm when the trigger is moved to the triggering position;
- and
- an action release assembly operatively associated with the firearm trigger assembly and the movable assembly of the firearm, the action release assembly preventing the trigger from being moved to the triggering position when the movable assembly is not in the locked position.
A method for triggering a firearm, the firearm having a forestock, a sear assembly, and a movable assembly, the movable assembly being movable between a locked position and an unlocked position, comprising:
- providing the firearm with a firearm trigger assembly comprising:
- a trigger mounted to the forestock of the firearm, the trigger being movable between a rest position and a triggering position;
- an elongated trigger member operatively associated with the trigger and the sear assembly of the firearm, the elongated trigger member operating the sear assembly of the firearm when the trigger is moved to the triggering position;
- and
- an action release assembly operatively associated with the firearm trigger assembly and the movable assembly of the firearm, the action release assembly preventing the trigger from being moved to the triggering position when the movable assembly is not in the locked position;
- engaging the trigger with a digit from a user's forwardly placed support hand gripping the forestock of the firearm in a substantially conventional support manner;
- and
- moving the trigger to the triggering position to fire the firearm.
