Abstract
The invention relates to enantiomer (−) of tentoprazole. The inventive enantiomer (−) of tenatoprazole, or (−)-5-methoxy-2-[[(4-methoxy-3,5-dimethyl-2-pyridyl)methyl]sulfinyl]imidazol[4,5-b]pyridine exhibits improved pharmacokinetic properties which make it possible to use a once a day posology of a drug for relevant indications. The enantiomer (−) of tentoprazole can be used for treating digestive pathologies.
Claims10
A pharmaceutical composition comprising (−)-5-methoxy-2-[[4-methoxy-3,4-dimethyl-2-pyridyl)methyl]sulfinyl]imidazol[4,5-b]pyridine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially free of the (+) enantiomer, one or more antibiotics, and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients or substrates.
A method of treatment of digestive diseases and conditions comprising administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of (−)-5-methoxy-2-[[4-methoxy-3,4-dimethyl-2-pyridyl)methyl]sulfinyl]imidazol[4,5-b]pyridine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially free of the (+) enantiomer.
A method of treatment of digestive diseases and conditions comprising administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising (−)-5-methoxy-2-[[4-methoxy-3,4-dimethyl-2-pyridyl)methyl]sulfinyl]imidazol[4,5-b]pyridine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially free of the (+) enantiomer, and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients or substrates.
A combination therapy for the treatment of digestive disease and conditions comprising a pharmaceutically effective amount of (−)-5-methoxy-2-[[4-methoxy-3,4-dimethyl-2-pyridyl)methyl]sulfinyl]imidazol[4,5-b]pyridine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially free of the (+) enantiomer, and a second agent selected from the group consisting of a proton pump inhibitor (PPI).
