Abstract
The subject matter disclosed herein generally relates to glass compositions for protecting glass and methods of making and using the compositions.
Claims23
A glass composition for protecting an electronic display, wherein the glass composition comprises greater than 10 mol % Al2O3 and from greater than or equal to 2.6 to about 10 mol % P2O5;
- wherein the glass composition has a weight loss of at least 10 mg/cm2 when immersed in 5% HCI at 95° C. for 24 hours;
- and wherein the glass composition is essentially free from alkali metal oxides.
A glass composition comprising greater than 10 mol % Al2O3 and from greater than or equal to 2.6 to about 10 mol % P2O5 and less than 65 mol % B2O3;
- wherein the glass composition has a weight loss of at least 10 mg/cm2 when immersed in 5% HCI at 95° C. for 24 hours;
- and wherein the glass composition is essentially free from alkali metal oxides.
A method for producing a glass composition for protecting an electronic display, comprising heating a mixture of glass and a source of phosphorus, wherein the amount of the source of phosphorus is sufficient to yield a glass containing greater than 10 mol % Al2O3 and from greater than or equal to 2.6 to about 10 mol % P2O5;
- wherein the glass composition has a weight loss of at least 10 mg/cm2 when immersed in 5% HCI at 95° C. for 24 hours;
- and wherein the glass composition is essentially free from alkali metal oxides.
