Abstract
A system, method and apparatus to reduce or eliminate interference in a first network in the event that a failure that occurs in a second network. The method, system and apparatus provide an added level of first network interference protection in a second network environment by removing certain frequencies/channels of the first network from being utilized by the second network. In one embodiment, for example, the frequencies/channels identified by a scanner associated with the second network during the scanning process that are allocated to the first network are removed from the pool of available frequencies/channels that can be utilized by the second network, and such frequencies/channels are stored in a table.
Claims15
An apparatus to protect a first network from interference by a second network, the first network including at least one cell and at least one cell neighboring said at least one cell, the apparatus comprising:
- a scanner associated with the second network and configured to scan one or more cells of the first network for identifying information;
- and
- a controller configured to transmit a query based on the identifying information from said second network to the first network and to receive a response to the query, the query to request information associated with the at least one cell;
- a memory device associated with the second network and configured to store the identifying information provided in the response,
- wherein the response to the query, including at least one frequency allocated to the at least one cell, is stored in the memory device to prevent the allocated frequency from being used by the second network when the scanner is dysfunctional.
An apparatus to protect a first network from interference by a second network, the first network including at least one cell and at least one cell neighboring said at least one cell, the apparatus comprising:
- scanning means associated with the second network and adapted to scan one or more cells of the first network for identifying information;
- and
- providing means for providing a query based on the identifying information, the query being transmitted from a said second network to the first network, the query to request information associated with the at least one cell;
- means for receiving a response to the query from the first network and for storing the identifying information associated with the at least one cell in a storage means,
- wherein the response to the query, including at least one frequency allocated to the at least one cell, is stored on the storage means to prevent the allocated frequency from being used by the second network if the scanner is dysfunctional.
An method for protecting a first network from interference by a second network, the first network including at least one cell and at least one cell neighboring said at least one cell, the method comprising:
- scanning, from the second network, one or more cells of the first network for identifying information;
- and
- transmitting a query, from said second network to the first network, the query being based on the identifying information and being transmitted to request information associated with the at least one cell and in addition to information provided in the query;
- storing identifying information provided in a response to the query in a memory device associated with the second network,
- wherein the response, including at least one frequency allocated to the at least one cell, is stored in the memory device to prevent the allocated frequency from being used by the second network even when the scanner is dysfunctional.
