Abstract
Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for erasing in a digital image. A method includes identifying a plurality of tip regions on the image, establishing an erasure color, and completely erasing pixels in the tip region that have a color matching the erasure color. Pixels having partially matching colors are partially erased and color decontaminated.
Claims27
A method for erasing a feature from a digital image, comprising:
- identifying a plurality of tip regions on the digital image each covering a portion of the feature to be erased;
- processing each tip region sequentially to erase the feature including:
- applying an erasure function to each contiguous target pixel in the tip region to remove the feature from a target pixel, and
- decontaminating each contiguous target pixel in the region including removing a contribution of an erasure color from each contiguous target pixel's color if the contiguous target pixel's color is distinct from the erasure color;
- and
- wherein processing is preformed by one or more computers.

A computer program product, encoded on a computer-readable medium, operable to cause one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
- identifying a plurality of tip regions on the digital image each covering a portion of the feature to be erased;
- and
- processing each tip region sequentially to erase the feature including:
- applying an erasure function to each contiguous target pixel in the tip region to remove the feature from a target pixel, and
- decontaminating each contiguous target pixel in the region including removing a contribution of an erasure color from each contiguous target pixel's color if the contiguous target pixel's color is distinct from the erasure color.

- one or more processors operable to execute the program product, interact with the display device, and perform operations comprising:
- identifying a plurality of tip regions on the digital image each covering a portion of the feature to be erased;

- applying an erasure function to each contiguous target pixel in the tip region to remove the feature from a target pixel, and
- decontaminating each contiguous target pixel in the region including removing a contribution of an erasure color from each contiguous target pixel's color if the contiguous target pixel's color is distinct from the erasure color.
