Extracting an implied value of a component associated with a plurality of product packages

A system for estimating a value of a component associated with a plurality of product packages, said system comprising:

• means for accepting data associated with said plurality of product packages, said data comprising product package price data associated with said plurality of product packages;
• means for performing a mathematical optimization on said data to produce first output data;
• means for performing a statistical regression on said first output data to produce second output data comprising an estimated value;
• and
• means for estimating a value of said component based on said second output data.

A computer readable medium having computer readable code embodied therein when executed by said computer performs a method of estimating a value of a component associated with a plurality of product packages, said method comprising:

• receiving data associated with said plurality of product packages, said data comprising product package price data associated with said plurality of product packages;
• performing a mathematical optimization with said data to produce first output data;
• performing a statistical regression with said first output data to produce second output data;
• and
• estimating a value of a component associated with said plurality of product packages based on said second output data.
