Abstract
A multicast service of a 3GPP Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) is disclosed. A multicast service stream identifier is provided so that each multicast area can receive different information for one service or one multicast service can be provided with different QoSs to areas. In addition, the multicast service stream identifier is provided which can selectively receive diverse menus or channels for one multicast service provided in the same area. Thus, by providing the multicast service stream identifier, users' desires for various services can be satisfied.
Claims19
A method of providing an MBMS (multimedia broadcast/multicast service) service comprising:
- attaching an MBMS service ID to MBMS data;
- and
- transmitting the MBMS data and the MBMS service ID to a mobile terminal, wherein the MBMS service ID is used to distinguish between MBMS services.
A method of receiving a MBMS (multimedia Broadcast/multicast service) service comprising:
- receiving MBMS data and an MBMS service ID attached thereto;
- reading the MBMS service ID, wherein the MBMS service ID distinguishes the MBMS service from other MBMS services;
- and
- processing the MBMS data in accordance with the MBMS service.
