Text rendering with improved command stream operations

A computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions for performing the method comprising:

• adding a first command to a command stream to draw a first glyph;
• developing a second command to draw a second glyph;
• determining an occurrence of an intersection between the first glyph and the second glyph;
• upon the occurrence of the intersection, inserting a command transition in the command stream between the second command and the first command;
• and
• providing the command stream to display hardware.

A computer system for rendering text, the system comprising:

• a central processing unit;
• a graphics processor unit;
• a memory operatively coupled to the graphics processor unit and to the central processing unit;
• a connection coupled to the graphics processor unit to allow a display device to be operatively coupled to the graphics processor unit;
• and
• an application executable within the central processing unit and memory, the application performing the method comprising:
• adding a first command to a command stream to draw a first glyph;
• developing a second command to draw a second glyph;
• determining an occurrence of an intersection between the first glyph and the second glyph;
• upon the occurrence of the intersection inserting a command transition in the command stream between the second command and the first command;
• and
• providing the command stream to display hardware.
