There is disclosed a plasma display panel (PDP) device having one or more substrates and a multiplicity of pixels or sub-pixels. Each pixel or sub-pixel is defined by a hollow Plasma-dome™ filled with an ionizable gas. The Plasma-dome has a flat side and an opposing domed side such as a flat bottom and a domed top or a flat rear and domed front. One or more other sides or edges may also be flat. Two or more addressing electrodes are in electrical contact with each Plasma-dome. A flat base side or domed side of the Plasma-dome shell is in contact with a substrate. The PDP may also include inorganic and organic luminescent materials that are excited by the gas discharge within each Plasma-dome. The luminescent material may be located on an exterior and/or interior surface of the Plasma-dome or incorporated into the shell of the Plasma-dome. Up-conversion and down-conversion materials may be used. The substrate may be rigid or flexible with a flat, curved, or irregular surface.
A plasma display comprised of at least one substrate and multiple gas discharge pixels, each pixel being in electrical contact with two or more electrodes, each pixel comprising a hollow Plasma-dome having a flat side and an opposing domed side, each Plasma-dome being located on a substrate and encapsulating an ionizable gas independently of the substrate.
A single substrate plasma display panel comprising a substrate having a flat surface and a multiplicity of addressable pixel elements, each element being formed by a gas filled Plasma-dome connected to at least two electrodes, each Plasma-dome being located on the flat surface of the substrate and encapsulating the gas independently of the substrate.
A gas discharge display panel device comprising one or more substrates and a multiplicity of gas discharge pixels, each pixel being in electrical contact with two or more electrodes, each pixel comprising a hollow Plasma-dome filled with an ionizable gas, each said Plasma-dome having a flat side and an opposing dome, a flat side of each Plasma-dome being in contact with a substrate, each Plasma-dome encapsulating the ionizable gas independently of the substrate.
An AC plasma display device comprising a multiplicity of gas discharge pixels, each pixel being in contact with at least two addressing electrodes, each pixel comprising a hollow Plasma-dome filled with an ionizable gas, each Plasma-dome having a domed side and an opposite flat surface for contact with the addressing electrodes, at least one Plasma-dome being in contact with a luminescent material that produces light when excited by photons from the gas discharge inside the Plasma-dome, said gas being selected to emit UV, IR, and/or visible photons during the gas discharge, each Plasma-dome being located on a substrate and encapsulating the ionizable gas independently of the substrate.
A plasma display having a multiplicity of pixels with electrodes connected to each pixel, each pixel comprising a hollow Plasma-dome filled with an ionizable gas, said Plasma-dome having a dome side and an opposing flat side with electrodes connected to said flat side, said Plasma-dome being made of a UV transmissive material, said Plasma-dome containing a luminescent material that emits light when excited by photons from the gas discharge in the Plasma-dome, said gas being selected to emit photons in the UV spectrum range of about 225 nm to about 450 nm.
A plasma display comprised of multiple gas discharge pixels, each pixel comprising a hollow Plasma-dome filled with ionizable gas, each Plasma-dome being in contact with at least two electrodes and having a flat side and an opposing dome, a luminescent material being located on an external surface of each Plasma-dome, said luminescent material emitting light when excited by photons from a gas discharge within the Plasma-dome.
A plasma display comprised of multiple gas discharge pixels, each pixel comprising a hollow Plasma-dome filled with an ionizable gas, each Plasma-dome being in contact with two or more electrodes, each Plasma-dome having a flat side and an opposing dome, a light reflective material being located on the non-viewing side of each Plasma-dome to increase light output.
A plasma display panel comprising a substrate and a multiplicity of addressable pixel elements, each pixel element being formed by a gas filled Plasma-dome, each Plasma-dome having a dome and at least one flat side, at least one electrode being in contact with a flat side, each Plasma-dome being located on the substrate and encapsulating the gas independently of the substrate.
A plasma display comprised of multiple gas discharge pixels, each pixel comprising a hollow Plasma-dome filled with an ionizable gas, each Plasma-dome having a dome and at least one flat side, and light barriers of an opaque, translucent, or non-transparent material being located between Plasma-domes.
