Abstract
A method of forming a compatibilized blend of a polymeric material and one or more additives and/or fillers is disclosed. The method includes blending the polymeric material and or more additives and/or fillers with an exfoliated clay.
Claims32
A method of forming a compatibilized blend of a polymeric material and one or more additives and/or fillers comprising blending said polymeric material with an exfoliated clay to form a blend, to said blend is added one or more additives and/or fillers, said exfoliated clay being comprised of a clay exfoliated with a resorcinol diphosphate or a bisphenol diphospate.
The method described in 1, 2, and 3 where the filler is a ceramic particle.
A polymeric composition comprising a compatibilized blend of a polymeric material, one or more solid phase additives and/or fillers and an exfoliated clay said exfoliated clay being comprised of a clay and resorcinol diphosphate or a bisphenol diphosphate said blend being macroscopically homogeneous mixture.
