System and method for aggregating and extending parental controls auditing in a computer network

In a computer network having at least two computing devices in communication, a method for audit reporting on the network, the method comprising:

• in response to receiving a request from an application to log audit information on a host computing device, logging, at the host computing device included as part of the computer network and associated with a user, the audit information about the user's activities using the device, the audit information being associated with a unique identifier of the user, the request from the application to log the audit information including a request to log the audit information to a control channel from which the logged audit data is periodically transferred to a data repository on the receiving computing device;
• aggregating the logged audit information with similar information residing on other host computing devices on the network so that all computing devices contain all of the audit information associated with the user;
• and
• in response to one of the computing devices receiving a user request to report all of the audit data contained on the host computing devices associated with the same user, reporting the aggregated audit information about the user's activities, contained on the computing device receiving the request, to the requesting user.
